In memory of Eric 'the cat' Cantona. 1995-2009

When Eric died I was so heartbroken that I decided to set up this blog in his memory. I didn't notice until the next day that I'd actually spelt his name wrong, and although he certainly wouldn't have cared, I did, so now there is a duplicate site here.

Ok, so Eric was 'just' a cat. But he was special, unique and intelligent. Our family has many stories of his antics, both good, bad and plain silly. Certainly Salford is a safer place for small birds and rodents! But most of all Eric was the perfect companion and was always happy to see me. I miss him.
We've lost count of the amount of time he's fallen in the bath, toilet or off some other secure footing... he was the cat without grace! He 'loved' me, but he loved everyone... especially people with long laps so he could spread out and relax on top of you.

Eric died this morning of saddle thrombus as a result of his heart murmur. He was fourteen years old and had had a happy life. He'll be sorely missed by family, friends, and the odd passer-by as he was a popular and sociable cat. (For an idea of what he went though Dave died of the same thing.)

As you can see in the photos above and below, like a lot of cats, he had a thing for sitting in boxes (even if it had stuff in it, or was just a lid).

I've set up this site as a tribute to him. Where we can look at his photos and wonder at his uniqueness.

Rainbowbridge gives comfort to those grieving the loss a pet through many ways. One way is through scripture. Many thanks to Rainbowbridge for providing the passages below.

Genesis 9:12
Matthew 10:29
Revelations 19:11
Psalms 50:10
It would be nice to think that Eric's in heaven along with the white horse from Revelations, bugging everyone to let him out the back door and then bringing them back presents of sparrows!
